I live on an absolutely stunning tropical island just off of Mission Beach in QLD Australia. I would love to share the name, but the resort I work at has a thing about name dropping and I don't want to get into trouble.
Regardless, this island has been so inspiring. Everywhere I look, I see something I want to paint. I used to live and work on Hayman Island, in the Whitsundays, but at the time, I wasn't painting. I look back at photos of that place and wish I had've been inspired to grab my brushes - but I just wasn't.
That's the thing about art, it's really hard to create when you're not feeling the vibe. When we accepted the jobs here on our current island home (we being my partner and I) I declared that whatever it took, I would paint this island at every opportunity I have. At the moment there are 5 official pieces, but I imagine I'll add at least a few more before we move on.
The island series is really important to me, because it is the initiation of me actually following my dreams. I've always wanted to be an artist, but I never quite believed I could be one. Now, seeing this series come together has given me the confidence to not only share my artwork, but sell it. Oh how far I've come.
Anyways, until next time 💛
